About the workshop
Join this 2-day workshop based on Lecoq’s physical theatre tradition of Twenty Movements. Participants will be guided through movement analysis and technique to explore the relationship between the body, space and play.
This workshop is for all emerging and established local artists and performers interested in Movement Theatre training. It is suitable for performers, artists and physical theatre/ movement practitioners. Participants can use the movements, skills and insights gained through this workshop when creating their own theatre.
This is a COVID safe event with a maximum capacity 20 people.

Background to the 20 Movements
Lecoq’s 20 movements give us the opportunity to play the body as a mask.
Jacques Lecoq developed this series of movements through observation of the world around us and used them in his pedagogy for the analysis of movement. They strengthen the actor’s body and increase awareness, concentration and presence. They reawaken neural pathways in the body that generate a sense of playfulness in the performer and create a launch point to rich internal life. This workshop invites the artist to take on the movements of the world, from observation to practice, in order to unleash their dramatic potential.
We will use the movements, skills and insights gained through this fine work to perform with written texts and make our own theatre creations.
